Beatty: [00:00:00.66] And Penny, one thing I wanted to do before I bring on this audio is I want to give a quick background because as after I taught this and then went back and listened to it, I realized that it could be taken wrong. So I want to give kind of a quick introduction on that for our listeners. So for those of you listening in on this, this audio is part of an identity series and this particular one we’re going through what’s called a parable of the Servant Son. You may not have heard it that way. This is the older brother of the prodigal son, and it’s a very insightful understanding and parable, and you’re going to get a lot out of it. But I use this to contrast what we see in the Body of Christ today between what I call the conservative church and the supernatural church. In very simple terms. The conservative church does not believe in the supernatural for today, and they do not live with the supernatural within their life. The supernatural church believes in the supernatural for today, and they live with the supernatural in their life. And what I wanted to make clear of as you listen to this training, if you’re not careful, you’re going to assume the same thing that I actually picked up from it, saying, Boy, that sure sounds like I might be bashing the conservative interpretation or saying in some capacity that the way the conservative interpretation is, it’s wrong. And that wasn’t my intent. So that’s why I want to give you this quick intro on this and see if I can put this in perspective.
Beatty: [00:01:36.51] Revelation The knowledge and understanding of God’s truths is what drives our reality. Okay, we see this perfectly clear with Peter walking on the water as he’s walking in the water with a revelation that by faith he can he walks on the water, but then when he changes and he doubts that revelation and says, well, that really can’t be true, I mean, it’s preposterous to think I can walk on the water, look at all these wind and waves. Okay. So then at that point, he loses the supernatural and he gets the aspect of the natural and he sings, both realities are true. Okay, this is the key. It’s only a matter of what revelation he walks in and you’ll hear on this on this training, I make the statement that whatever you believe determines how you live. And that’s what we see with Peter walking on the water. So how that applies here is revelation is your knowledge and understanding of God’s truths and your ability to put them into practice by faith. And as you hear me describe, you know, the conservative church interprets this way the supernatural and church, church interprets a different way. And I kind of contrast them back and forth. And I show you some things in Scripture, what I want you to pick up, which was not in the training, the intent was there, but the clarification wasn’t, is that it’s neither right or wrong, it’s neither good nor bad. It’s only a matter of degree in terms of how much revelation you have and what revelation you walk in to maybe put this in simple terms.
Beatty: [00:03:23.25] Think about grade school. If you’re in second grade, you have a lower level of revelation of truths than if you’re in fourth grade. Okay? If you’re talking to a fourth grader and the fourth grader is telling you the truth, he’s learning and what they operate in in the fourth grade because you’ve never experienced it in the second grade, you look and go, Well, that’s preposterous. That can’t be you can’t do that in math. You can’t do that in English or whatever the conversation may be. But if you look at it from the fourth graders perspective, he says, I’ve already been in second grade and I know where you are, but it gets a lot better as you go through it. Okay. So one is talking from a perspective of understanding, the other is talking from a perspective of I can’t comprehend it. It doesn’t mean that mommy or daddy love you more or less. If you’re in second or fourth grade, they love you the same. It doesn’t mean that you don’t love your mommy and daddy as much. If you’re in second grade versus fourth grade, you love them the same. So this has nothing to do with love, nothing to do with character, nothing to do with integrity. All that. What you’re about to hear is the simply the application of revelation. When you have greater revelation in the truths of God’s word, you can walk in those truths differently and have a different outcome in your life.
Beatty: [00:04:50.95] That’s what we see with Peter having a greater, abundant life of walking in the supernatural when he walks in the revelation and having a lack, a life of lack without the abundance of the supernatural. If he walks without the revelation. And so this whole training you’re about to hear tries to articulate that. So one final step when you listen to it, don’t get offended, okay? Don’t don’t think I’m saying if you’re on the conservative beliefs side, you’re wrong. It’s you’re right. There are two truths equally as true. The question is, you can walk in a higher level of truth by faith. But without faith, you walk in a lower level of truth. God loves you the same. You love God the same. It’s just a matter of what you have in life and how you live your life. That is the outcome change anyway with that penny. Sorry for a long intro to this, but with no further ado then let me bring this on up. This is a live Bible study training. I do, by the way. I show up diagrams and stuff when I do these light Bible study training. So please, if you have interest, go back to our podcast website depending on which one you’re on. Get sellers calling you or get radical faith and you can for that podcast. There’s actually the live video that you can watch all this and see the diagrams. Thanks. And you all have a blessed day. And let me bring it on now.
Beatty: [00:06:21.22] Okay. We’re going to get started now. This is something I have wanted to touch on for a while. The Lord directed me to teach on this session. It’s the parable of the servant, son. And how many of you are familiar with the parable of the servant, son? I see. All right. Okay. So. That’s right. You’re the cheater. You. You had a head start on that one. So the parable of the servant son. He is the brother of the prodigal son. And everyone always talks about the prodigal son. But I believe a more significant impact of what Jesus is teaching is the servant son. And so that’s going to kind of be the message. I want to put a plug in. So this is a book that’s just been published. It’s on Amazon. It’s called Nuggets of Faith. And this is actually coming from this book. So what this is, if you have interest, you can buy one. But it’s a over 400 nuggets of information for over five and a half years, as the Lord has prompted me on things as I go through the Scriptures and they turn into nuggets and basically everything I teach is ultimately from what he’s shown me, so enjoy. But that’s what we’re doing. Page 435 is the topic of what we’re doing on this one. So I got a question. So this is the parable of the servant son. It is ultimately focused on how do you interpret scripture. And this is going to be a little bit different probably than most people think in terms of interpreting scripture.
Beatty: [00:08:07.81] So let me kind of set the stage real quick. You’re adopted. You grew up in your adopted family. They sent you to college. You graduate. You go out and get a job and you get a family. And you start growing your life and your job. You’re earning about $80,000 a year. And so you live your life at 80,000 a year. You have a budget. You have a $300,000 home. You take some vacations, but you don’t have a vacation home. You don’t have a country club. You don’t take exotic international trips. You stay within that budget. You probably drive nice but used cars. Does this kind of make a sense? Unbeknownst to you, your biological dad has been watching you the whole time. He knows who you are. He’s a billionaire. At the time you graduated college, he puts together a trust fund for you and loads it up with a bunch of money. And you have full access to all the money all the time, and it produces about $3 million a year. So the question is, how do you live your life? Do you live it at the $80,000 a year or do you live it at the $3 million a year? All right. What’s the difference between the two? A lot. Okay. So it’s a lot. The lifestyle is a lot different, right? Yeah. But what’s the difference between whether you live your life at 3 million a year income or 80, 80,000, the awareness of what you are, the awareness of what you’ve been given.
Beatty: [00:09:52.36] So here’s the thing I want to say. Do you know that you’re have access, right? That’s exactly it. So I want to put it in simpler terms. What you believe determines how you live. Does that does this make sense? Okay, now, here’s what’s interesting. Both of these are true. 80,000 a year is true. 3 million a year is true. It’s not a question of, do you believe something that’s true or not? They’re both true. They both exist. The question is what you believe determines how you end up living. And that’s kind of where I want to go on this and and kind of peel back a little bit of this onion. And with this, there’s also some conflict in the body of Christ. Are y’all aware of any conflict within the body of Christ? That conflict, I think, can be easily described in in a broad stroke, what I call the conservative church versus the supernatural church. So in very simple terms, the conservative church does not believe in the supernatural, essentially. They believe intellectually that supernatural things happen by God at his time, by his will, in somewhat arbitrary manner in our perspective and the supernatural Church believes that the supernatural happens all the time by faith and based on how these two bodies of the Body of Christ believe also starts to determine how they live.
Beatty: [00:11:45.91] Is this making sense? So with that, I want to start first with Ephesians one three and and go through this. So we’re going to look at a little bit of what the Bible says and then how are things interpreted. And I want to kind of peel back this onion of what’s been interpreted and how and how that impacts how you live. So Ephesians one three says, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. So what are attributes of our spiritual blessings? How would you describe them? Let me let me have you turn to another passage and let’s see if this starts to clarify. Look at John 1010. This is Jesus talking John Tintin. And it says The thief comes to steal, kill and steal, kill and destroy. I came that you might have life and have it abundantly. So would it be safe to say that the spiritual blessings we’ve been given in Christ in the heavenly places have some impact in how we could have and live an abundant life that may not be all that abundant life is. But would that make sense that that’s part of what abundant life is? We look at Joe, it looked like he had an abundant life because Satan never attacked him. Right. The reason he couldn’t attack is because Satan was prevented.
Beatty: [00:13:28.58] This is what we talked on the last sessions. So what type of attributes is abundant life? You know that. You know God. All right. Nature unlimited that you have access to the same power. He has access to the same power authority. Right. Okay. Very good. Abounding joy. Are all provision health a lack of stress? A lack of all the things that the. The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy joy. So all of this abundant life comes through the spiritual blessings in the heavenly places. So let me see if I can kind of draw this up. So we have, let’s say, heaven over here and we have our blessings and they are ours to become ours, or are they already ours? The provisions are there. Right? So what does this say? It’s just a transportation problem, right? Transportation problem. We have a what is it, a supply chain problem, right? Yep. So it says in this stuff, do it. That’s right. So Ephesians one three says that God has blessed us. Is that future ten or past tense has passed since we’ve already received the blessings. And where have we received them? In the heavenly places right now, the heavenly places is that the physical or the spiritual? Spiritual, spiritual. So we have do we live in the physical or live in the spiritual? We’re supposed to be living both. Physical. Yeah, that’s a problem. All right. So we are spirit, we are soul, and we are body.
Beatty: [00:15:32.66] Right. Okay. If we are spirit, soul and body, where do they exist in the spiritual realm or in the physical realm? Simple answer, right? So two thirds of us operate in the spiritual realm already. More than that, the physical realm is actually a shadow of what occurs on the other side of the veil, in the spiritual realm. I remember we were going through some challenging times a few years back, business and stuff wise and Beatty made a really great comment. He said, Dad, the battles won in the spiritual before it’s won in the natural. And think about that. When you solve the spiritual issue, the natural follows. This is actually what we just came through with the whole topic of spiritual warfare. You solve it in the spirit realm. It emanates into the natural. And so what I want to give you kind of a picture of is imagine from what I said, the mind is in the right, the mind is in the soul. Your thoughts are in your soul, your emotions are in your soul. That’s what’s walking. And the only thing that’s in the body is most of our receptivity the input, sight, sound, feeling, hunger, all those things. But here’s what’s interesting. Think about for a moment. Have you ever seen a cake artist takes this big grow tube of icing and they stuffed the icing in the top part, and then they squeeze it down and it comes out and they do all kinds of designs there.
Beatty: [00:17:23.52] So imagine that that cavity, that reservoir of the icing is the spiritual realm. All the good stuff is put in the spiritual realm and it’s squeezed out and it comes out onto the cake in the physical realm. And how you point that in the physical determines how the spiritual blessings flow through that. And so this is kind of the picture I get. You have this reservoir of all the spiritual blessings that are already ours in the heavenly places and through faith. They then come out into the physical realm where our body exists. This is kind of making sense. This is the deal. See the scripture the same way? Does this say like the fallen nature is? And so yes. What’s preventing? Oh, great point. So the fallen nature is in the soul and we’re told to renew our minds. Right. How we think, how we think determines how we interpret and how we interpret determines how we believe and how we believe, determines how we live. Right. So so this is all trying to cram all this together. All right. So now that we kind of have that as a backdrop of what we’re doing, part of this is to not only talk about the servant son. Part of this is to really help bring some perspective on why is there so much conflict between the conservative and the supernatural? Why do the people who interpret Scripture differently believe that they’re at odds with those who interpret it in some other way? They think the supernatural is done.
Beatty: [00:19:20.55] That’s right. They think the supernatural is done. Exactly. But what it does is it creates angst and disunity. See if this makes sense. If you understand personalities, you have someone whose real driver personality get things done and always making commands. That’s his personality. And you have someone else over here who is just kind of meek and mild and they don’t like to create conflict. You put those two people together and there’s a lot of conflict, but once they understand that all it is is a personality difference, the conflict goes away because they realize, Hey, you’re not upset at me or you’re not just a dead tire and I’m trying to get you to do something. You refuse to do it. They start to realize that this is a personality and they go, Oh, this is the way, this is how this person’s wired. So let me modify my approach, and now we can communicate. Well, I don’t know. Did I make sense on that? Yeah. And so if we can look at the supernatural and the conservative side as personalities, how they think and how they are wired, then we can start to have not only greater unity with our brothers across whichever aisle we’re across, but as we go through tonight, what I want to show you is that this whole thing drives the life that they live.
Beatty: [00:20:46.32] How? How do you live in such abundance when others are living in such lack? Well, all of our spiritual blessings are in Christ and the heavenly places, and something’s blocking it from coming through. And I think as we go through this, this is going to be kind of fun. So the first thing is let’s talk about interpretation. So the conservative church interprets Scripture with man’s wisdom and the supernatural. Church interprets Scripture with childlike faith. I was reading this book by a guy named Joseph Sturgeon, and it was in this vision he has. Jesus is talking to him and it’s at the end of this book and Jesus says, I have revealed all of these things to you and because of your childlike faith. But I have hidden them from those with man’s wisdom and prudence. So we start to see that childlike faith intertwines with revelation. We’ll see that as on another topic that we’ll do. And so what happens then is when the when you study God’s word, it’s a deep study of God’s word. You start to analyze the sentence structure at times, but definitely the words what’s the Greek or the Hebrew and what does that actually mean? So you can understand what our word being translated in the English actually means. So both sides of the aisle do the same thing, but then it starts to change. In the conservative church, they focus a lot on reading other man’s writings about God’s word commentaries, and they’ll study the commentaries probably more than they actually study God’s word.
Beatty: [00:22:38.70] And then they come up with an intellectual understanding of what does the Scripture say? On the supernatural side, it’s the same level of deep study and word study. But what happens is, rather than studying man’s words about it, they really lean more on the Holy Spirit to reveal it, which is exactly what Jesus said. I’m going to go I’m going to send you a helper to not only remind you of things I said, but to reveal these things to you and interpret them for you. So that’s the supernatural and the difference is childlike faith. Look, real quickly, let me just show you an example of this in Scripture. John 1412 So I want to interpret. John 1412 a little bit from both sides. How does the conservative church interpret the same passage? And what we’re going to start to see is I’m going to use the word preposterous. If it’s preposterous, it must mean something different. So, John, 14, 12, Jesus says, truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do in greater works than that the greater works than these will do because I am going to the father. All right. So that’s what Jesus says. What works do Jesus typically do? If we’re saying, well, what works? What, what? What are they? He healed the mind the day of ox.
Beatty: [00:24:10.62] He heal the sick, raise the dead, raise the dead. Cleanse the lepers. Yeah, he cast out demons. I’ll get the same thing he told his disciples to do. Right? Right. All kinds of other. And he did all kinds of other miracles. All right. So the conservative church reads this and they say, you know, man, that’s right. The mind, they reason this is where Jesus says to the Pharisees when he told the paralytic your sins or forgiven, and they start to reason among themselves, he says, Why do you reason among yourselves? So you have this reasoning, which is a preventive ness of childlike faith. It’s the opposite of childlike faith, and that’s what’s happened. So man on the conservative side, they reason and say, well, this can’t be true. This can’t be what it seems like it is. We also have this doctrine that says the supernatural doesn’t occur. We don’t see it. We know it stopped a long time ago. So this must mean something different. It’s not that individually a man can do this because that stops. So this must be the church at large that Jesus is saying the church at large will do the same work same. So globally we see more works than what Jesus did worldwide. But the supernatural church says, Well, no, Jesus said, this is whoever believes, whoever is singular, not plural, and therefore it must be true. And so what happens is in the supernatural church we see.
Beatty: [00:25:46.63] Today healings and demons, casting out demons and raising the dead and cleansing of lepers. And in the conservative church, we don’t see it. What you believe is how you end up living. So last time we were talking about demands of faith and I was sharing a story of reading this book and looking at second Corinthians nine, God is powerful, mighty, and will make all provision abound to you as you give cheerfully. Malachi 310. Test him and he’ll open up the windows of heaven. What happened with me is I believed at face value. I said, okay, this is what it says. Prove it. Man’s wisdom says, Well, no, you can’t really do that, because what if? And so we have this this difference between interpreting with man’s wisdom versus childlike faith. Let me show you another thing. You have interpretation, then you have perspective. The perspective of the conservative church is the foot of the cross. The perspective of the supernatural church is the resurrected Christ. What is the impact of these two things? Well, if you think about it, the foot of the cross is the process of completing something. It’s the beginning, but the resurrected Christ is looking backwards and says completion. So one is the process of being completed. The conservative side foot of the cross, the supernatural side says already completed what is in the process and what is already completed. So let’s look at identity because of man’s wisdom interpreting where at the foot of the cross the conservative church views themselves as sinners being sanctified and the supernatural views themselves as saints.
Beatty: [00:28:07.03] They’ve already been sanctified. What does scripture say? All right. So I want to read you something. We’re going to turn there and I want to ask, which is a better interpretation, man’s wisdom or face value? Because usually man’s wisdom denies the face value, and that’s why it’s difficult. So look at first Corinthians one two. So what we’ll find is that the Apostle Paul writes, From the perspective of the resurrected Christ, from the perspective of saints having already been crucified, I mean, already been sanctified, but we have been crucified in Christ. So watch this. So the Corinthian church was a wayward backslid in church. They were worse sinners than many believers are today. Paul is as mighty man of faith, preaching the gospel that he got personally from Jesus. Right? And he knows what is right and what is wrong spiritually. So what is his perspective of what he calls the saint the church at Corinth? So this is first Corinthians one two to the Church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified this past tense in Christ Jesus call to be saints. So he calls them already sanctified and also saints. Let me show you one other one. This is second Corinthians 213, second Corinthians 213. I would suggest if we are sons born of the seed of God, already been sanctified.
Beatty: [00:30:02.80] And I think he’s saying that be a saint, we are already sanctified. And you like it because he’s looking down at the covering over us so he can’t see underneath. But that’s the way he sees us and that’s the way he treats us. Right? You’re talking about how God treats us. Yeah, totally. I’m totally with you on that. He says it’s how we view ourselves. Yeah. And this is the whole thing I’m going on. When we view it in man’s wisdom, we say, Well, we can’t be. We’re not a saint. We’re not sanctified. Look at all the sin in my life. Does that make sense? Look at this. So second Corinthians 213 says, But we ought always to give thanks to God for you brothers, be loved by the Lord because God chose you as the first fruits to be saved through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. Watch this sanctification. How did you become sanctified by the spirit and belief in the truth? What’s the truth? Jesus. Right. So the spirit sanctified you to believe in the truth. And the reason that you believe in the truth is because you’ve been sanctified. Now, let me show you something else. Watch this. This is even. This is Romans eight. Let’s see. Romans 829, this is Paul writing again for those whom he talking about God for new. He also predestined this past tense to be conformed to the image of his son in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and those whom he predestined.
Beatty: [00:32:00.13] He also called past tense and those whom he called. He also justified past tense and those whom he justified. He also glorified past tense. When was Jesus glorified? After his decision. After his ascension. It says, We’ve all we’ve been glorified. But that’s at face value. It can’t mean that because look at the sin in my life. Do you see what I’m saying? So the challenge is how do we interpret scripture? Do we interpret it the way Paul writes it, the way God writes it through Paul? These are those Pauline sections, or do we interpret it through another lens that says This can’t be true? There’s something that Paul wrote about his conscience. They include. In other words, it’s impossible. We don’t believe it if our conscience is unclear. That’s right. Let me show you something else about Paul, because this is also real interesting. This is in Romans seven, right before Romans eight. I’m just studying that one. Yes. Let’s go there real quickly. Let me see if I can find it real quick. Romans seven, verse 16 and 17, it says, If I do what I do not want, I agree with the law that it is good. So now it is I who do it and sin has nothing to do with it. Is that what it says? No. So now it is no longer I who do it but sin that dwells in me.
Beatty: [00:33:33.97] What Paul is saying is, Hey, all this sin, that’s not me. It’s no longer I who do it. Is he talking about the spirit man or the man he’s talking about? No, no, I understand. What he’s talking about is the reality of who he is and Christ no longer under law, but under grace. How? You see, it’s not how you see yourself. It’s how God sees you. The question is, do you believe how God sees you? Do you believe your biological dad actually set up that trust fund and is producing $3 million a year for you? Or do you go, that’s preposterous that I’m just a poor person. My family’s been poor. We were just, you know, simple middle class. Not poor, but simple middle class. 3 million a year. That’s preposterous. Man’s wisdom says. What are the odds of that? It’s it’s not. It’s not real. But once you believe it. Then your whole life changes. The question is, do we believe scripture as written or do we rationalize it away in man’s wisdom? Read what other men write about that out of the same grip. I had this pastor. When I teach on this stuff, he says, Well, how do you know what you’re teaching is right? I said, Well, the Lord directs me on it. He says, Well, what you ought to do is you ought to read what other Christian theologians say about this and make sure that you’re accurate.
Beatty: [00:35:11.31] Says, I said, So what if I read those theologians that you don’t agree with? Then does that mean I’m so accurate if they agree with what? So we’re back into this whole idea of man’s wisdom. What does man say about God’s word versus what does God’s word say? And therein lies a lot of this conflict area. So we’re almost where I really want to get started for tonight. This just laying the groundwork. It’s all part of this. So if we come back over the conservative versus the supernatural because of the perspective how they how you interpret God’s word. Then the perspective is either you’re at the foot of the cross or the resurrected Christ. Moving towards completion or having been completed. If you’re moving towards completion, your center, your center, say by grace. In the process of sanctification. And the way that you get sanctified is you go through trials and sufferings that perfect you, right? But if you’re already a saint as a supernatural, as Paul writes, then it says that you’ve already been sanctified. Where’s the room for suffering? So now this brings up the fourth and final thing, and this is the conservative church views themselves as servants. People who suffer. The supernatural church views themselves as owners. With abundance. All right. So let me give you a picture of this and then we’re going to see this in scripture. So servants who suffer.
Beatty: [00:37:08.91] A servant is someone who serves at the command of a master, a higher authority, and there is a class difference. You have a master class. You have a servant class. Jesus teaches a lot about the servant versus the master all through his teachings. And the servants always suffer. They’re out there. They’re in the field. They work all day in the hot field. And Jesus says, when the master comes home, is he does he expect that servant to immediately work even more to serve the master and then the servant can eat later? Yeah. Constant life of suffering. Jesus said, This is really interesting. If you look at the progression, this is in John. But Jesus says, I no longer call you. This is the night before the crucifixion. He says, I no longer call you servants, but I call you friends because I’m now confiding in you all that the fathers told me. And then three days later, he tells Mary at the tomb, Go tell my brothers. So we see servant, friend, brother. Based on one differentiating factor, the level of revelation you have as a servant. They were the servants of the rabbi. He was teaching them. At the end of that teaching time, they are now friends. He’s confiding in them after to the resurrection, the resurrected Christ. They are now brothers. And it says in Hebrews two that he’s not ashamed to call them brothers because they have one common origin.
Beatty: [00:38:57.98] So the servants who suffer are the perspective of the disciples in the early stages of Jesus’s ministry. They do all the work and expect nothing in return. And it’s okay to suffer. The owners with abundance are those who are after the resurrection and all inheritance is theirs. This is where Ephesians one three says All of our spiritual blessings have been given to us already in Christ, in the heavenly places, because the resurrection has already occurred. So now let me back this up in Scripture. Can I. I want you to turn to Luke 15. Verses 11 through 32. And I’m going to show you these two groups of people articulated in the parable of this servant son. We’re going to first read about his younger brother, the prodigal son, and then we’re going to move to the older brother, the servant son. This is really interesting. And it will rock your life in how you live. If you grasp it and believe it and therefore live by it. So and I’ll begin and I’m going to truncate a few things along the way. And Jesus said, there is a man who had two sons, and the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the share of property that’s coming to me. And he divided his property between them. So now we’re going to talk about the prodigal son. The prodigal son at the high level of revelation, is the sinner saved by grace? The center who returns to the father and the father is a loving father and welcome not only welcomes, but races after him to embrace him.
Beatty: [00:40:57.20] So here’s how it reads. It says, Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took a journey into a far country. And there he squandered his property in reckless living. And when he had spent everything dot, dot, dot, he came to himself and said, How many of my father’s hard servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger. I will arise and go to my father. Dot, dot, dot. And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion and ran and embraced him and kissed him. And the son said to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven. And before you, I am no longer worthy to be called your son. But the father said to the servants, Bring quickly the best rope and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and shoes on his feet and bring the fattened calf and kill it and let us eat and celebrate. For this, my son was dead and is alive again. He was lost and is found. And they began to celebrate. Out of this entire parable, I’ve heard tons of sermons and preaching on the younger son returning. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything on the older son other than rebuke.
Beatty: [00:42:14.94] So what we see is a very obvious truth. That the younger son turned away. He came to his senses. He repented. He came back to the father. The father embraced him, and he’s back in the family again, the center. He returns to the Lord. Now, the eldest son, we’re about to start there is typically the self righteous Jews, those people who believe that they are self righteous, and that’s basically what’s preached on. But there’s one very powerful part of this parable that I’ve never heard anyone mention, and even when I researched it, I could find nothing online. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. I just didn’t find it. But watch this. So now we’re going to continue with the elder son. Now. His older son was in the field and as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing, and he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant. And he said to them, Your brother has come and your father’s kill the fattened calf because he has received him back safe and sound. But he was angry and refused to go. And so this is his pride. I’ve been good all this time. And now the center gets all the celebration. So he was angry and refused to go in. His father came out and entreated him, but he answered his father. Look, these many years I have served you and I have never disobeyed your command.
Beatty: [00:43:44.77] You all see the servant side coming out yet you never gave me a young goat that I might celebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you kill the fattened calf for him. And he talking about the father said to his son, You’re always with me, and all that is mine is yours. It was fitting to celebrate and be glad for this. Your brother was dead and is alive. He was lost and is found. So that’s now the parable of the servant son. The question is. What does it really mean? What’s the significance of the servant, son? I believe that the servant son represents the vast majority of all Christians today. Definitely falling into the conservative side and even to a degree, into the supernatural side. Watch the pattern. Here’s the pattern. The pattern is the servant son is toiling and serving his father at his father’s command for his father’s desire. For for what his father’s estate is needing. He’s out there in the hot sun. He’s toiling. He’s probably leading other servants, but he’s doing the work himself. And he’s hoping for enough pleasure by his father. His master father. That his master father will will will choose to bless him with just a little goat every now and then that he can go and actually have some joy and some fun with his friends, because otherwise life is nothing but toil and servitude.
Beatty: [00:45:33.66] Does that are you all seeing this picture? If you look at the relationship between the servant son and the father, it’s a distant relationship. Yes. The servant son loves the father. Yes, the father loves the son. But there’s no intimacy. Because once the master one’s the servant and he’s toiling all the time hoping to get something. All right. But let’s look at a little bit something deeper. Go back to the end of the passage. And let’s see what the father says. And this is after the sun says, look, all these many years I’ve served you, yada, yada, yada, and you never gave me anything. And the father said to him, Son, you’re always with me. And. All that is mine is yours. All that is mine is yours. In other words, this servant who suffers for his father actually owned everything already. He just didn’t understand it. He owned it all. All the fields that he was laboring in were his. His fields. All of the harvest was his harvest. All of the cattle. Was his cattle. All of the servants. Or his servants, you know, just now saw that because, remember, he had already divided. That’s where I’m going. Yes. So what happened is everything had already been given him. But the issue was from which perspective he believed. You see, the servant son was on this conservative side with man’s wisdom in interpreting what his father did. His father, it says, let’s go back to the very first.
Beatty: [00:47:39.41] This is verse 12. Be the end of verse 12, be. And it says And the father divided his property between the two sons. The father said. To the younger son. Here’s yours to the older son. Here’s yours. It was just a short statement. This is yours. But here’s what happened. The owner son, the servant son looked at everything in wisdom. He said, Nothing’s changed. The land is still the same. My father still the same. He still lives on the land. I’m still the same. Nothing’s changed. So this must be mine later. I’m going to receive my inheritance later. But. But the key is. What he saw did not change. Think about this. I believe in Jesus. I feel a peace come over me. The seal of the spirit that guarantees my salvation. I still have sinned in my life. I still struggle at work. I also have relationship problems with my loved ones. My car still breaks down. So all of this abundant life and all this stuff must be later. I’m still a sinner. Look at my life. I’m still a center. And I’m struggling. And suffering and suffering, I’ve been told, is good because it brings forth perfection. So I get sick and I go to my elders and they believe that I’m a sinner being sanctified because that’s where they are. So they will pray with their level of belief. Lord, heal this person if it’s your will.
Beatty: [00:49:33.64] And what they’re really saying is because it may be your will that they suffer. You may have actually brought this sickness upon this person to suffer, to help sanctify and perfect them through this process. And so I don’t know if it’s your will or not, therefore heal this person, if it’s your will, if you’re on the supernatural side. Hey, we’re already saints and have been sanctified. Our life should be abundant. It’s only the thief who comes to steal, kill and destroy our abundant life. So, Father, we ask that you heal this person sickness. Get out. You have no right been there because the scriptures say by his stripes you were healed. The Scriptures say you are a saint, you have been sanctified, and all the blessings are already yours. But how you believe determines the entire path of how you live. Two series ago, we did a thing called Faith Like Jesus. We came to the clear conclusion multiple times that the authority you walk in, you only walk in it by faith. If you don’t have the faith to walk in that authority, you do not have it, even though it’s been given you. Okay. You can have something but not walk in it. You can be given all of the spiritual blessings, but not walk in it because you don’t believe it. So other interesting observations as we get through this and start to wrap up or have more questions.
Beatty: [00:51:12.80] So if we go to the servant son. So here we have in the conservative side you have the servant son. On the supernatural side, you have the owner son. It’s the same person. The only difference is. Do you believe what your father said? At face value. Because if you don’t, you live your life as a servant toiling in lack. And you know that you’ll have the abundant life when you get to heaven. But this life is is tough. What’s interesting is both groups love the Lord dearly. So this has nothing to do with how much love you have for the Lord. Both groups. The Lord loves them dearly. So it has. No, we’re not making a differentiation of the Lord loves one group more than another. We see this with the Father and the parable with the prodigal son. The father shows how much he loves his children and wants to be intimate. He was prevented from intimacy with his eldest son because he thought he was a servant. Well, this. That’s not right. Right. Now, you’re absolutely correct. So not one of the marks of the supernatural side is when you realize. Who you truly are and what the Lord has truly done. Now, there’s a great level of gratitude, right? I remember when I started and people would say, How are you doing? I’m saying, I’m blessed. I didn’t always do that. It came with the realization of how truly blessed we are. Zero issues anywhere in our life.
Beatty: [00:53:09.01] Financial health. Relational possessions. You know, having a just an abundant life. I mean, there’s no no lack in any way. And people said that it didn’t really matter if he was abounding. Right. But there’s abundant joy. Yeah. Right. Never saw himself in the literal. Well, that’s what I’m saying, is actually another kingdom. It gets difficult, but you’re absolutely right. But it’s that spiritual kingdom that flows through and gets squeezed out into the natural. Yeah, that’s the plan. Right. So but the observations is it all starts with this childlike faith. When you interpret scripture, do you read it as it is and believe it as it is? You have been sanctified. You are sons of God. You can give abundantly, and God will make all provision of bound to you. You know, do you read it at face value or do you start to apply wisdom and say that can happen? But I like to leave with an implication for a moment. Think about the servant son who did not realize he was owner. If he understood that he was the owner of all. He would not have had to work. He could if he wanted to. But it says even the high priest, the garments that he wore, he was essentially not allowed to sweat to do any actual labor. The high priest was provided for by the priests. They were provided for by the ties and offerings coming in from the people.
Beatty: [00:55:04.66] And so you have this filter up effect of the people doing the work, the royal priesthood, who we are receiving from the work and at the higher levels, receiving more abundance without what our work is, ministering to the Lord, not laboring in the fields. So the question is if you believe this passage to be true. Jesus was making a parable, teaching a spiritual truth, and he put in that spiritual truth. All that is mine is yours. What is that implication? And once you start to reconcile with that implication, how do you then start to apply it in your life? Here’s one special that I’m just going to bring up, because he says to wait. We’re still waiting on the redemption of our body. The redemption of our body. Romans eight in the physical. Now, in other words, he’s talking about the resurrection of the body. Right. So what he said to do it had yet. Right. Let me show you something else. Turn to Galatians three. So in Romans eight, he’s talking about where adopted and our full adoption comes at the resurrection. But being adopted fully spiritual to be right, we become a fully spiritual being in the physical. We’re already a fully spiritual being in the spiritual because it’s our spirit that’s been born again. But if you turn to Galatians three, this is real interesting. They did. Let’s see. So here’s what Paul says. For In Christ Jesus. You are all sons of God through faith in Christ, Jesus in Christ Jesus.
Beatty: [00:56:59.86] But you are sons of God, through faith. Now, revelation talks about the sons of God at resurrection, right? But I believe this is saying is that we are either sons of God now through faith. Or even the conservatives who don’t believe yet we’ve been. We’re saints and sanctified, we’re still sinners being sanctified, being a son of God means I am of God already. But Paul is saying that we’re sons have got through faith. Through faith, all things spiritual that are ours are received and manifested in our life. All the spiritual blessings only get manifested in the natural in us. By faith. We can choose to believe in man’s wisdom that that’s preposterous. And we live a life no different than the next person waiting for our abundance. Once we die and go to heaven, or we can act as sons of God through faith and through faith, receive those spiritual blessings that are already ours and manifest, and they’ll be manifested. So but it’s all it’s all received by faith. Nothing spiritual is received without faith. But faith is not. One size fits all. Faith to believe in Jesus, but not faith to believe in this healing. Face two believe in Jesus and faith to believe in this healing, but faith to really believe that this financial debt that’s crushing me is going to get taken care of. Each of those are different levels, different faiths, tied to different promises. And that’s kind of where I’m going with this whole thing. On the parable of the servant son.
